Two players alternate their movements in turns, translating or rotating pawns on a floating grid within an octagon. Each pawn has a translucent body and a reflective surface. They can be used to block or to deviate a laser beam to the opponent's goal.
In order to make the beam visible, smoke emerges from beneath the board. Other visual effects, such as the green glow of the grid lines are due to ultraviolet light.
